Short Breaks-fun for children and young people with disabilities and/or additional needs
The Isle of Wight Council Short Breaks service provides a range of fun and exciting activities for children and young people (19 years and under) with disabilities and/or additional needs.
The activities available through the programme take place after-school, during evenings, at weekends, school holidays with some overnight stays. As well as providing a fun and safe activity for the child, they provide a ‘short break’ for parents and carers.
The range of Short Breaks activities currently available includes horse riding, skate boarding, sensory, cooking and gaming sessions, youth club, bush craft, arts and crafts – and many more. All of the latest activities are available on the Short Breaks websitewww.iwight.com/shortbreaks.
We also offer Short Breaks to families through our own facilities. These are a platinum rated lodge at Nodes Point in St Helens and a platinum rated caravan at Lower Hyde, Shanklin, all of which are available for family hire.
