Why do you like living in Cowes?
We’re in the heart of much of the island’s action, with great events and lots to do all year round. We live a short wander away from the Red Jet which means we can be in Southampton less than an hour after leaving our house.
Favourite Local Park
We love Gurnard green. All the children love pretending to be pirates and watching the boats sail by. Having The Woodvale pub so close is always good too when we need to stop for a drink or something to eat.
Favourite Local Club/ Class
We’ve taken all three children to Caterpillar Music classes since they were just weeks old and it’s definitely a firm favourite for many Cowes families. Everyone loves a sing and dance!
Favourite Child-Friendly Restaurant
We love The Llama Tree Pizzeria in Wellow. They bake the most amazing artisan pizzas in a stunning pizza oven, and there’s a children’s menu and play area too. It’s only 15 minutes from Cowes, but the setting is so peaceful you feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere!
Favourite Place on the Island
If you asked the children, they’d all say Robin Hill. There’s so much to do for their age group, we really could spend the whole day there. We have to drag them away from the ‘Cow Train’ after a number of trips around the track!!
Best Children’s Book
The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson. It can be hard to find a book that both a four year old boy and one year old girls are all interested in, but this book without doubt has them all gripped every time!
Our favourite is Appley Beach, there’s so much space, especially when the tide is out, and when the children want a break from the sand we can head to Puckpool Park for a play. Lots of lovely places to eat too!
